For fresh fish, fruit, and vegetables, the little covered market in Espiche is only minutes away, open Monday to Saturday mornings — and on Saturdays, the lively farmers' market in Lagos is well worth the early start.
Golfers are well placed here: Espiche Golf lies in the neighbouring village, Boavista sits between Luz and Lagos, and Palmares and Santo António are a short drive further. Surfers will find beginner-friendly beach breaks in Luz itself and at Porto de Mós — at their best from autumn through spring — with the wilder west coast beaches near Carrapateira and Arrifana around half an hour away.
The fishing village of Burgau is under 10 minutes away, historic Lagos and the famous Ponta da Piedade rock formations a short drive further, and the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de São Vicente in Sagres make for a memorable day trip.
It truly felt like a luxurious, carefree home away from home. The place is beautifully decorated and exceptionally well equipped. We loved the private terrace, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or relaxing. A true hidden gem.
The place is very quiet and the beach in the area is heavenly. The host did an excellent job — she gave us a guide to everything in the house, another to all the restaurants, recommended bars, and activities we could do in the area.
